TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's basketball begins a stretch that sees the Sycamores play three of the next four games on the road, starting Saturday afternoon at (RV/RV) Nebraska. Tipoff between the Sycamores and Cornhuskers is set for 2 p.m. from Pinnacle Bank Arena and will be carried on Big Ten Network+ and 105.5 The Legend.
Last Time Out
Mya Glanton set career highs with 22 points and 16 rebounds Saturday evening, but a late Sycamore rally fell one point short inside the Hulman Center as Western Michigan defeated Indiana State, 68-67.
Glanton's double-double was the first of her career, and also marked the first 20-point scoring performance of her career.
Del'Janae Williams had 15 points and also matched her career high with seven steals.
Western Michigan led by as many as 15 in the third quarter before the Sycamores chipped away at the deficit. ISU closed the game on an 8-0 run that spanned the final 1:47 of the contest. The Sycamores had a chance to take the lead on their last offensive possession but a late turnover in the closing seconds proved costly.
A Closer Look at Nebraska
Nebraska enters the weekend at 9-0 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten Conference after defeating Minnesota on the road in the conference opener for both teams. The Cornhuskers are receiving votes in both the AP Poll and the WBCA Coaches Poll, making Saturday's contest the first for the Sycamores against a team that is either ranked or receiving votes.
The Cornhuskers enter the weekend as one of just 13 remaining undefeated teams and are one of two 9-0 teams this season, joining top-ranked South Carolina.
Jaz Shelley and Bella Cravens led the Cornhuskers with 15 points apiece in their 70-67 win over Minnesota. Cravens also led the team with seven rebounds against the Golden Gophers.
Shelley leads a balanced Nebraska offense with 15.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. Isabelle Bourne also averages double-figures for Nebraska with 11.0 points per game, while four other Cornhuskers average at least seven points per game for a team that averages nearly 85 points per contest. Cravens is the team's leading rebounder with 8.0 boards per game.
Series History Against Nebraska
Indiana State and Nebraska have met just once on the hardwood prior to Saturday's contest, a neutral-site game in Durham, North Carolina, during the 1994-95 season. The Sycamores won that game, 86-76.

Thievery
The Sycamore defense has been one of the best in all of Division I this season when it comes to forcing turnovers. Indiana State ranks inside the top 25 in steals per game (17th, 12.2) and turnovers forced (24th, 22.38), while also ranking inside the top 40 in total steals (36th, 98). The Sycamores lead the Missouri Valley Conference in all three statistical categories.
Indiana State made its mark early in the season with a 21-steal contest against Stephens (Mo.) to open the year. Since then, ISU has recorded at least 10 steals in six of the last seven contests, including 13 in back-to-back games against Georgia Southern and Chicago State. Overall, it's been a team effort by Indiana State with four players posting double-digit steals on the year and 10 players overall recording multiple steals.
In addition to getting their hands on the ball, ISU has been constantly harassing the opposition and has posted five games with at least 20 forced turnovers on defense. The Sycamores forced a season-high 36 turnovers against Stephens (Mo.) and carried on with 26 forced turnovers against Saint Louis, 21 against Georgia Southern, 21 against Chicago State and 24 against Western Michigan.
No Fly Zone
Indiana State's contest against Georgia Southern marked the second time in the 2021-22 season that the Sycamores held an opponent scoreless from behind the arc. ISU limited the Eagles to a 0-for-14 performance behind the three-point line to shut down Georgia Southern in the 71-67 win.
The Sycamores previously limited Stephens (Mo.) to a 0-for-12 mark behind the arc to open the year and have held opponents under .300 from the three-point line on four separate occasions this year. ISU has also held opponents to just a .283 three-point percentage on the year.
