CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Indiana State women's soccer picked up their second straight victory with a 3-1 win over UNI Saturday afternoon at the UNI Soccer Field.
With the win, Indiana State is now 4-7-2 (2-2-1) on the season. UNI's record drops to 4-8-1 (1-3-0).
First Half
Northern Iowa took a 1-0 lead in the 11
th minute when Ashley Harrington scored on a feed from Sophia Doty.
Indiana State would answer just before halftime when
Sasha Thompson scored in the 39
th minute from just outside the box.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Maddie Alexander made four saves for the Sycamores to keep the score tied 1-1 going into halftime.
UNI finished the half with six shot attempts with five being on goal while the Sycamores recorded three shots with two of them being on goal.
Second Half
The Sycamores would take a 2-1 lead early in the second half when
CeCe Wahlberg put one in the top right of the net to score her fourth goal of the season in the 52
nd minute.
Indiana State extended their lead to 3-1 in the 61
st minute when
Sasha Thompson found the back of the net for the second time in the match. That was her fourth goal of the season.
Both teams would put a shot on net in the final 20 minutes but were kept off the scoreboard to give Indiana State a 3-1 victory.
The Panthers out shot Indiana State 10-9 in the match. UNI put eight shots on goal while Indiana State finished with five. Lauren Heinsch led the Panthers with three shots. Cece Wahlberg and
Sasha Thompson paced the Sycamores with three shots each.
Maddie Alexander finished with seven saves for the Sycamores while Caitlin Richards and Chloe Russo each made a save for UNI.

CeCe Wahlberg are all tied for the team lead with four goals this season.
Wahlberg now has 123 career shots which ranks fifth in Sycamore history.
Kent and Thompson are tied for the team lead with 10 points each.
Maddie Alexander has 54 saves this season which gives her 101 for her career. She ranks eighth all-time in Sycamore history.
