EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Evansville volleyball extended its winning streak to six matches after sweeping Indiana State, 3-0 (16-25, 17-25, 23-25) inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon. The Aces improved to 16-4 on the season and 6-3 in Missouri Valley Conference action while ISU fell to 11-8 overall and 3-6 in the MVC.
Kaitlyn Hamilton paced ISU with a team high eight kills on a .500 hitting percentage.
Chloe Mason assisted on 14 of ISU's 28 kills while Emma Kailin recorded a team high eight digs.
Taylor Shelton picked up three of ISU's six service aces, including two in the third set.
The Aces were strong on the offensive side of the ball, outhitting Indiana State .396 to .198 over the match. UE's Giulia Cardona led all players with 17 kills on 32 attacks while Melanie Feliciano was the only other attacker to finish with double-digit kills with 14. Cardona also recorded seven of the Evansville's 10 service aces.
Set One - Evansville 25, Indiana State 16
- Evansville outhit ISU .462 to .261
- The Aces jumped out to a 9-4 lead and never looked back
- Feliciano recorded five kills in the set on five attacks
- UE converted 81 percent (13-of-16) of their sideout opportunities
Set Two - Evansville 25, Indiana State 17
- It was a back-and-forth set until the Aces extended their lead to five points at 12-7
- No Sycamore recorded more than two kills in the set
- ISU converted just 37 percent (9-of-24) of their sideout opportunities
- UE outhit ISU .333 to .179
Set Three – Evansville 25, Indiana State 23
- Trailing UE 19-13, ISU pulled back to within one point at 24-23
- Cardona recorded a match high eight kills in the set
- Haffner assisted on 13 of UE's 19 kills in the set
- The set featured three ties and one lead change
- ISU recorded a match high four service aces in the set with Taylor Shelton and Williams picking up two each
The Sycamores return home next weekend as Loyola and Valparaiso make their way to the ISU Arena Friday and Saturday.
