Sycamores and Redbirds End in 1-1 Draw

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's soccer played to a 1-1 tie against Illinois State on Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

The Sycamores are now 5-7-3 (3-2-2) on the season while Illinois State finishes their regular season with a 4-10-3 (2-3-3) record.

First Half
Illinois State had the momentum in the first half as they controlled possession for a majority of the period.

The Redbirds took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute as Alissa Ramsden scored on a feed from Kasey Neidhart for her first goal of the season.

Illinois State outshot the Sycamores seven to five in the first half to take their 1-0 lead into halftime.

Katie Yankey led the way for Indiana State with three shot attempts in the half while Sarah Lafayette also led Illinois State with three shots.

Both goalkeepers went into halftime with three saves.

Second Half
The second half saw more action as both teams got active on the offensive end.

CeCe Wahlberg tied the match at one with her sixth goal of the season in the 68th minute. Wahlberg got a pass from Sasha Thompson then turned and fired a shot from five yards outside of the box to where Priya Gillan could not reach it.

Both teams put shots on goal in the remainder of regulation but could not find the back of the net.

The Sycamores recorded nine shot attempts in the second half while the Redbirds had 12.

Overtime
Audrey Stephens nearly put the match away in the first overtime period but Priya Gillan made a nice save to keep the match tied.

The Redbirds put three shots on goal in the second overtime period but all were saved by Maddie Alexander to end the match as a 1-1 tie.

Illinois State finished the match with 23 shots while Indiana State attempted 16.

Katie Yankey and CeCe Wahlberg led the Sycamores with five shots each with Maddie Alexander making a career-high 10 saves.

Sarah Lafayette paced the Redbirds with six shots while Priya GIllan made eight saves.

Stats and Notes
CeCe Wahlberg scored her sixth goal of the season which leads the Sycamores and puts her in a tie for second-most in the MVC. She is now tied for second all-time in program history with 69 shots on goal. Her six goals this season give her 12 for her career which is tied for ninth-most in Sycamore history.

Sasha Thompson recorded her third assist of the year which ties her with Katie Yankey for the team lead.

Katie Yankey's five shot attempts are a career-high.

Maddie Alexander made a career-high 10 saves. Her 71 saves this season are third-most in the MVC.

The Sycamores will finish their regular season with a road matchup against Southern Illinois on Thursday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET.
