TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – Indiana State Director of Athletics
Sherard Clinkscales announced today (April 2) that all youth camps previously scheduled to be held on campus during the summer of 2020 have been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Indiana State University remains open with all students and faculty continuing the spring semester via remote instruction while many staff members are telecommuting.
Â
"I have made the difficult decision to cancel all summer camps that had been scheduled to be held on our campus this year," Clinkscales said. "Our coaches will continue to be focused on getting our student-athletes ready for the upcoming year as well as recruiting for the future. Our summer camps are traditionally a great way for the youth of the Wabash Valley to spend time on our campus and receive some of the best instruction available from our coaching staff. We will miss having everyone spend time with us this summer. But in the interest of everyone's health and safety, this is the responsible decision at this time. Sycamore Athletics wishes good health and a bright future for everyone."
Â
The COVID-19 pandemic has canceled all athletic competitions for the remainder of the academic year based upon a decision of Missouri Valley Conference university presidents. All practices have also been paused during this time. The NCAA is currently in a recruiting dead period until at least May 31.
