Memphis, Tenn. – Indiana State softball split day one of the Memphis Tournament, beating Memphis, 13-5 and falling to Belmont, 13-5 in the nightcap. Indiana State is now 9-11 on the season.
Game One – Indiana State 13, Memphis 5
Arielle Blankenship threw four complete innings during an 13-5 victory in game one of the Memphis softball tournament. Blankenship was able to get two strikeouts in relief for the trees while only giving up one run.
Amada Guercio lead the Sycamores going 4-for-4 with four RBIs while hitting her first home run of the season.
Annie Tokarek was 3-for-4 with a home run and an RBI.
Mallory Marsicek added a home run of her own, slugging a grand slam in the top of the seventh inning.
Indiana State would score four runs in the top of the first.
Leslie Sims lead off the game with a single and
Amanda Guercio's single would bring in the first run of the day for the blue and white.

TeAnn Bringle had an RBI single bringing in the fourth run of the inning for the Sycamores.
Amanda Guercio would get her second hit of the day with an RBI single in the top of the second scoring
Leslie Sims.
TeAnn Bringle executed the SAC bunt beautifully bringing in
Alexis McCullough in the top of the third bringing the Sycamores lead 6-1.
Memphis added three runs in the bottom of the third taking advantage of two Indiana State errors pulling them within two runs, 6-4.
Amanda Guercio stayed hot; she would smoke her first home run of the season with a 2-run shot in the top of the fourth inning, extending ISU's lead, 8-4.
In the bottom of the fourth, Memphis scored with an RBI groundout.
Annie Tokarek hit a solo homerun in the top of the fifth.
Mallory Marsicek hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh propelling Indiana State to a 13-5 win.
Game 2 – Belmont 13, Indiana State 5
Lexi Benko threw 3.2 innings allowing nine runs on nine hits with three strikeouts, being charged with the loss for the Sycamores.
Indiana State got on the board first while
Bella Peterson reached on an error, bringing in
Becky Malchow.
Mallory Marsicek continued to stay hot, hitting a 2-run double again, bringing the Sycamores to an early 3-0 lead.
Belmont responded in the top of the second, scoring a run on an Indiana State error, and an RBI single.
The Bruins added five runs in the top of the third via an RBI single and a grand slam, propelling them to a 7-3 lead.
Becky Malchow would draw a walk, and
Bella Peterson reached on a Belmont error; this would set up
Mallory Marsicek for a 2-run triple, pulling the Trees within two runs only trailing, 7-5.
Belmont added six runs in the top of the sixth inning extending their lead for good, 13-5.
