TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State will open the 2020 campaign with the Florida Atlantic First Pitch Classic Tournament.
 
First pitch against Wisconsin is slated for 3:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7. The Sycamores will also face off against FAU later that evening at 8:15 p.m.
 
On Saturday, Feb. 8, the blue and white will play Bethune-Cookman at 11:15 a.m. and Purdue at 3:45 p.m.
 
Finally, the tournament will wrap up on Sunday, Feb. 9, and the trees will play Northern Illinois at 9 a.m.
 
All games will be streamed on CUSA.tv with a paid subscription. Live stats will be available for each game.
 
Series History

• This will be the third meeting in school history against Wisconsin, the Badgers hold a 2-0 deficit. Last meet was in 2012.
• Florida Atlantic also holds a 2-0 lead all time over the Sycamores. Last meeting was in 1998.
• The trees have only faced Bethune-Cookman one time in school history. Bethune-Cookman holds the deficit 1-0. Last meeting was in 2000.
• Purdue holds a 20-17 deficit over the Sycamores. The last meeting was in 2019, the blue and white lost 9-6.
• Indiana State last played Northern Illinois in 2005, Northern Illinois holds the deficit over the trees, 18-7.

 
Three Things to Know

1. Season Three Starts Now
   The 2020 campaign gets underway with the FAU First Pitch Classic marking the start of Mike Perniciaro's third year at Indiana State. The Sycamore roster includes eight newcomers, seven freshman, and one transfer.
2. Sycamores Picked Seventh in Preseason Poll

Indiana State was picked to finish seventh in the Valley this year. The Sycamores finish ninth in the Valley in 2019. The trees did make a run in the tournament last year defeating Loyola, and Missouri State.

3. Sims Speed
   Leslie Sims enters her last season looking to improve on her solid junior campaign. In 2019 she was second in The Valley in stolen bases with 34, Sims was also second overall in hits with 72. She was honored with first-team All-MVC and Second-Team All-Region honors. She also set the career stolen bases record in 2019 with 80.
