TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State Sycamore Softball will head down south to play in the Purple and Gold Challenge Tournament in Nashville, Tenn. on the campus of Lipscomb University.
First pitch of the tournament against UMBC is slated for 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28.
On Saturday, Feb. 29, the blue and white will play UMBC again at 10 a.m. and will play SIU Edwardsville at 5:30 p.m.
Finally, the tournament will wrap up on Sunday, Mar. 1, and the trees will play tournament host, Lipscomb University at 2:30 p.m.
Lexi Benko picked up her second career win and first career save this past weekend. She threw 7.2 innings allowing five runs on nine hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Benko currently leads the Sycamore pitchers with a 2.21 ERA.
Leslie Sims is leading Indiana State, and is third overall in the Missouri Valley Conference with a .490 batting average. Sims leads the Valley with her 24 hits.

- This will be the first matchups against the Retrievers of UMBC in school history.
