COLUMBIA, Mo. – Indiana State Swimming & Diving sits in fourth place after the 200 medley relay team broke the school record on day one of the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Wednesday.
The Sycamores sit in fourth with 62 points after day one, trailing Missouri State (74), Southern Illinois (68), and Northern Iowa (66). Behind ISU is Illinois State (58), Little Rock (52), Evansville (48), and Valparaiso (44).
Surging Sycamores
Leading the way for the Trees on Wednesday was the 200 medley relay team of
Kendall Hansen,
Megan Schade,
Kaimi Matsumoto, and
Alex Malmborg. They broke the school record to start out the meet with a time of 1:42.04.
The 800 freestyle relay team made the podium in the second event of the day. The team consisted of
Andrea Putrimas,
Marlene Pavlu Lewin,
Cierra Campbell, and
Sarah Moreau posting a time of 7:27.54.
Coach Christensen's Corner
"We got off to a strong start with a school record in the 200 medley relay. Always a good thing when a school record goes down," said head coach
Josh Christensen. "Our 800 Free relay was a tough one. We got a little thrown off early and just didn't get settled into our race. I'm excited to see us come out strong on prelims tomorrow and put together good races."
