CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Indiana State's comeback fell short on Saturday evening under the lights at Frost Stadium. The Mocs defeated the Sycamores, 5-3.
Chattanooga came out hot scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double and an RBI single.
Mallory Marsicek blasted her first homerun of the 2020 season with a shot to center field in the top of the fourth, pulling the Sycamores within one run. Indiana State tacked on two more runs in the top of the fifth with a two-run single from
Bella Peterson.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Mocs loaded the bases and tied the game up taking advantage of an Indiana State error. The Sycamores would leave the bases loaded in the top of the sixth inning.
The Mocs would regain the lead in the bottom of the sixth with a two-rbi single to seal the deal.
Gabi Schnaiter (1-1) was charged with the loss in a 5.1 inning performance, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits with six walks and no strikeouts. Celie Hudson (3-0) was credited with the win in a complete game performance for Chattanooga, allowing three runs, on eight hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
