INDIANA STATE NOTES | NORTHERN IOWA NOTES

NOTES
  • The Series: Indiana State and Valparaiso meet for the 78th time on Thursday with ISU holding a 41-36 advantage in the series. UNI won the first matchup this season on January 19, 73-43, in Cedar Falls.
  • A Win Would: A win on Thursday would end a two-game skid for the Sycamores and also give the Trees their first win over UNI since March 8, 2014, snapping an 11-game streak. A victory would also give head coach Vicki Hall her first win over the Panthers.
  • Junior Leadership: Jamyra McChristine continued to be the leader on the court for the Sycamores over the weekend against Loyola and Valparaiso. The junior averaged 10.5 points and five boards between the two games, finishing with nine points and seven rebounds at Loyola and 12 points and three boards at Valparaiso. McChristine also leads the Trees in both categories on the season with 9.8 point and 6.2 rebounds per game which is ninth in the Valley.
  • Tough Slate Ahead: Indiana State will have another tough weekend coming up, as Northern Iowa and Drake head to the Hulman Center. When the Sycamores met both teams in January, they were defeated by 70 points (40 at Drake; 30 at UNI) between the two games, the biggest deficit in a two-game stretch since an 86-point deficit from Nov. 13-18, 2011 when ISU fell to #2 Notre Dame and Chattanooga. The Sycamores have shown improvement in the Valley since then, however, as they picked up their first conference win against Evansville on Jan. 31.
  • Terre Haute's Team: Despite the struggles of the season, the fanbase around Indiana State women's basketball continues to be one of the best in the Missouri Valley Conference. ISU averages an attendance of 1,387 during their nine home games, trailing only Drake, Missouri State and Northern Iowa in the conference.
