Sycamores Post Strong Effort in the Classroom During Fall Semester

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – In one of the most unique semesters the college landscape has ever seen, the Indiana State University student-athletes recorded a combined department grade-point average (GPA) of 3.273 for the Fall 2020 semester with 10-of-11 squads recording a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
 
"I am so pleased with the academic performance of our student-athletes," Sycamore Director of Athletics Sherard Clinkscales said. "When you factor in all of the challenges this year has brought, it shows the determination of our student-athletes and the ever-resilient Sycamore spirit. I also would like to recognize the work of Student-Athlete Success coach, Brooke Porter, and Director of Athletic Studies, Michelle Stodden, who works with our 400-plus student-athletes. Their attention to the well-being for our student-athletes creates an environment for success. Lastly, our coaches do a tremendous job bringing in students focused on academic and career success. They are the ones that set the standards for academic and competitive success in the recruiting process."
 
 The women's soccer team posted the department's highest GPA at 3.75 while the highest men's team GPA came from baseball with a 3.19.
 
In total, 41 student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA, led by women's cross country and track & field with 12, 197 earned Dean's List honors (3.5 or higher) and 282 earned Athletic Director Honor Roll honors (3.0 or higher).
