ST. LOUIS – For the first time in her Sycamore career, Essy Latu has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for her performance against Western Illinois.
 
Latu continued her hot shooting last Monday against the Leathernecks to help the Sycamore claim their third-straight victory. The junior finished with 18 points an connected on 6-of-9 from deep, tied for the second most triples by a Sycamore in Hulman Center history and her 66.7% from behind the line is the eighth-best mark in Hulman Center history. Latu is currently 18th in the nation in three-point field goals made per game (3.75) and 19th in total made threes at 15. She is shooting a blistering 45.5% from deep on the year. She also chipped in five rebounds, three assists and a block.
 
The Sycamores are back in action tonight at 7 p.m. in Cincinnati, Ohio for a matchup with Big East foe, Xavier.
