  • A Win Would: A win on Friday evening would end Indiana State's eight game losing streak, as well as give the Sycamores their first victory in their Missouri Valley Conference opener since the 2013-14 season when they defeated UNI, 60-53.
  • Last Season's Split: Indiana State and Illinois State split the season series last year with both squads winning on their home floor. The Redbirds claimed victory in Normal, 78-70 behind a strong performance by TeTe Maggett who recorded 26 points and seven boards. The Sycamores were led by now graduate assistant Tamara Lee with 15 points.
  • Hitting the Boards: Through the nonconference, ISU can boast themselves as one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Trees have pulled down 162 offensive boards in 12 games, giving them an average of 13.5 per-game. Jamyra McChristine leads the blue and white with 5.9 rebounds per game.
  • A Balanced Attack: Indiana State continues to bring a balanced offensive attack to the table, with the most recent effort coming at home against Saint Louis.
