TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State Associate Director of Athletics for Communications & Digital Content
Ace Hunt has announced the hiring of
Andrew Hile as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications for the Sycamores. Hile will serve as the primary contact for cross country/track & field, volleyball and women's basketball.
Hile takes over the position after spending the previous year as the graduate assistant for athletic communications where he worked with cross country/track & field and swimming & diving.
"It is certainly exciting to keep the long standing relationship between Indiana State University and the Hile family going by welcoming Andrew into Sycamore Athletics on a full time basis," Hunt commented. "The Hile family has long been a mainstay in the university and we look forward to Andrew not only continuing that tradition but also working hard to share the stories of our student-athletes and coaches."
Prior to taking the graduate assistant position, he worked as a media relations student assistant for two years, acting as the primary contact for cross country/track & field during the 2017-18 season.
During his time with the cross country and track & field programs, he has helped promote several-athletes' runs to the NCAA Championships, including Erin Reese's First Team All-American performance at the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships and her NCAA runner-up performance in the hammer throw at the 2019 Outdoor Championships. He has also served as the primary media contact for the NCAA Great Lakes Cross Country Regional in addition to two Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Throughout the 2018-19 academic year he also helped promote the Sycamore Swimming & Diving program, including building excitement about the hiring of new head coach
Josh Christensen. Hile had the opportunity to promote the best season in the program's history, which included 12 straight victories to open the year and a third place finish at the MVC Championships.
Hile graduated summa cum laude from Indiana State with a degree in communication-public relations in 2018. While a student at ISU, Hile served as the president of the Society of Professional Journalists where he had the opportunity to begin a discussion about honoring Sycamore graduate and Time Person of the Year, Jamal Khashoggi, with a meeting space dedicated to the first amendment in the planned renovation of Dreiser Hall. He was also the Director of Pride and Traditions during his sophomore year, a position in which he oversaw the official student section of ISU, The Forest, and helped the organization achieve its largest membership total.
Hile currently resides in Terre Haute with his wife, Peighton, and puppy, Gamora.
