MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Shaye Barton was 2-for-4 including a two-run home run in the top of the seventh that helped complete Indiana State's come-from-behind 6-3 victory over IUPUI in the opening game of the Memphis Softball Tournament Friday.

Indiana State (8-7) had trailed, 2-1, entering the final frame before the late-inning heroics pushed the Sycamores back over the .500 mark on the year.
Leslie Sims ripped an RBI double to left center after
Becky Malchow's leadoff single to tie the game at 2-2.
Bailey Martin would get hit by a pitch before
Bella Peterson drove in two runs with a double to left before Barton smashed the home run over the left center fence, expanding the ISU lead.

IUPUI (5-15) would strike back in the bottom half of the seventh, taking advantage of two Sycamore errors to score a run. The Jaguars would put two runners on with the tying run at the plate before
Gabbi Schnaiter forced Delaney Thompson to ground out to end the game.

Schnaiter (4-2) went the distance for Indiana State, allowing three runs on six hits while walking one and striking out four. Â Amanda Melzoni (1-2) was charged with the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits in six innings, walking four and striking out one.

Mandy Dallas led IUPUI with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate while Maddie Keeley was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.

PLAYER OF THE GAME
On International Women's Day showcasing the strength of women worldwide,
Shaye Barton was nothing but strength. Both her hits in her 2-for-4 performance at the plate were for extra bases with a double in the sixth inning and her two-run home run in the seventh. She also reached in the first on an error. She drove in two runs herself, scored once and made two putouts at third to claim this accolade.
