Sycamores Drop 3-0 Decision to Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For Indiana State, big innings seem to be its kryptonite. Despite limiting host Louisville to just six hits, the Cardinals' three run-fourth inning would be all the scoring Saturday morning's game would see as ISU dropped a 3-0 contest to the Cardinals.

Gabbi Schnaiter (3-2) was impressive in the circle until that fourth inning, allowing only one hit over the first three frames. But Louisville's Caitlin Ferguson hit a one-out home run with a runner on for the first runs of the game. Three batters later, Kyra Snyder – who was vexing to Indianan State (7-6) at the plate all weekend long – laced an RBI double for UofL's third and final run.

The Sycamores, stranding six runners in the loss, would put a runner in scoring position in the bottom half of the inning as Bella Peterson led off with a walk and moved to second on a Louisville (10-6) error. Then the Cards recorded three straight outs to quell the threat and ISU would only get one more runner on base the rest of the game.

Schnaiter finished with three runs on three hits in 3 2/3 innings while striking out three and walking only one. Tessa Sims pitched an impressive 3 1/3 innings in relief, facing a runner on second in the fourth before getting out of the jam. She would allow only three hits while walking one and striking out one. Making productive use of her time in the circle, 22 of Tessa Sims' 33 pitches were strikes.

PLAYER OF THE GAME
Tessa Sims gets the nod as she settled down the Sycamore defense, allowing no runs on three hits in 3 1/3 innings pitched. Tessa Sims issued just one walk and struck out one. She entered the game with a runner in scoring position in the fourth and forced a ground out to get out of the inning.

STAT OF THE GAME
This was not much of a game of manufactured runs as neither team was successful at the plate once a runner was aboard. Combined the two teams hit .182 (4-for-22) with a runner on base. Louisville was 3-for-11 in that situation with two of those hits – a home run and a single – driving in all three of the Cardinal runs. Indiana State, however, was 1-for-11 with a runner on base.
