INDIANA STATE GAME NOTES | KANSAS GAME NOTES

NOTES
  • The Series: Thursday marks the second overall meeting between the Jayhawks and Sycamores, and the first meeting since 1985. Kansas claimed the lone victory in the series, defeating the Trees 106-56 in Lawrence.
  • Fresh Look Sycamores: Indiana State women's basketball will look completely different during the 2019-20 season as the Sycamores welcome 14 newcomers to the program, the most in Division I. The Trees are the only school in NCAA Division I women's basketball to welcome a completely new roster that features eight freshmen and six junior college transfers (five juniors and one sophomore).
  • Stellar Recruiting: Head coach Vicki Hall and her staff put together an impressive recruiting class coming into the 2019-20 season and earned recognition for their efforts. BlueStar Report listed Indiana State as having one of the best recruiting classes in the nation. The Sycamores were given an honorable mention ranking in the report and was the only Missouri Valley Conference school to appear on the list.
  • Sycamore Season-Openers: Indiana State has had recent success when opening the season and the Sycamores look to continue that success when they play at Kansas on Nov. 7. Over the last 10 years the Trees have posted a 8-2 (.800) mark in season openers. But that opening game domination has only been a recent trend. All-time Indiana State is 27-20 (.574) in season openers with a 11-8 (.579) mark since 2000.
  • Road Warriors: The Sycamores will have to be road warriors to start off the 2019-20 season as Hulman Center is under renovation. Because of those renovations, ISU will spend nearly its first month of the year and seven-straight games on the road before finally returning home to host Marshall in the Hulman Center on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
  • About the Jayhawks: Kansas returns six athletes, including two starters, and welcomes seven newcomers for the 2019-20 season. The Jayhawks played two exhibition games, falling to Pittsburg State, 90-82, in the first and defeating Emporia State in the second. KU was led by sophomore guard Brooklyn Mitchell who finished with 27 points, four assists and nine rebounds between both games, as well as Bailey Helgren in the post who earned 25 points and 17 rebounds during their exhibition contests.
