TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State was in every set it played against Illinois State on Monday night, but ultimately the Redbirds walked away from the ISU Arena with a 3-0 victory of the Sycamores.
 
Monday was yet another strong defensive performers from Melina Tedrow, who is currently second in the Missouri Valley Conference in digs-per-set. The libero tallied 22 digs for an average of 7.33 digs-per-set to go along with three assists.
 
Madeline Williams was the leading defenders at the net for the blue and white, recording three block assists while Gretchen Kuckkan contribute two of her own. Illinois State held the edge in blocks, 8.0-4.0, as well as digs, 62-51.
 
On the offensive side of the net, Nikkie White continued to lead the Trees, recording nine kills, two assists and six digs against the Redbirds. Redshirt senior Cassis Kawa was close behind White, adding seven kills of her own for a total of 30 compared to Illinois State's 47.
 
Freshman Chloe Mason and junior Mary Hannah Lewis continued to split the workload in the setting game, each recording 12 and 11 assists of the team's 29, respectively. Illinois State was led by Stef Jankiewicz who earned 38 of Illinois State's 44 assists.
 
The Trees will be back in action this Friday when they travel south to take on in-state rival, Evansville, at 7 p.m. ET.
 
Set One - Illinois State 25, Indiana State 21

• Strong offense from Illinois State gave the Redbirds the set win, as they hit .282 with 15 kills.
• Tedrow recorded nine of her 22 digs in the first frame.
• At the net, Williams recorded two block assists.

 
Set Two - Illinois State 27, Indiana State 25

• Both teams struggled offensively, with Indiana State hitting .054 on 13 kills.
• Mary Hannah Lewis earned six assists.
• Tedrow recorded 10 more digs to push her total to 19.

 
Set Three - Illinois State 25, Indiana State 21

• The Sycamores only recorded five kills in the final frame compared to Illinois State's 17.
• Kuckkan and Tedrow both earned three digs to help the Sycamores to their total of 12.
• Illinois State finished the frame with 19 digs and 17 kills.
