Final Road Swing Up Next for Sycamore Volleyball

NORMAL, Ill. – Indiana State will make one final push for the Missouri Valley Conference tournament this weekend when they head to Illinois State and Bradley during their last road trip.

  • Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+ with first serve slated for 7 p.m. ET on Friday and Saturday.

  • Melina Tedrow is ranked second in the Valley and 13th nationally in digs-per-set with an average of 5.43.
  • Tedrow's 44-dig performance against Evansville is the third-best in the NCAA so far this season.
  • Tedrow's has now registered the seventh-most digs in a single season at ISU with 510 and at least two games remain.
  • Freshman Chloe Mason is ninth in the Valley in assists-per-set, tallying 519 through 93 sets for an average of 5.58.

STILL ALIVE
Indiana State's MVC tournament hopes are still alive thanks to their first perfect weekend of the season. The Sycamores defeated Southern Illinois and Missouri State by a score of 3-1 both nights, both crucial wins as a loss would've knocked the Trees out of tournament contention. ISU can finish as the six seed, but will need some help as there must be a four-way-tie for fifth place at 7-11 between Evansville, Valparaiso, Southern Illinois and ISU. Then the Sycamores must have a higher power rating to take sixth over Evansville.

A HISTORIC WIN
Saturday evening the Sycamores had one of their biggest wins in program history, snapping a 53-match losing streak to Missouri State. The victory was ISU's first over the Bears since 1994 when the Trees were victorious 3-2 in Springfield and Lindsay Allman is now the first Sycamore coach since Rhonda Woodward to boast a win over Missouri State. Indiana State now holds three victories all-time against MSU.

MOVING ON UP
Melina Tedrow continued to climb the Sycamore record books over the weekend, solidfying the seventh-most digs in a single season by a Sycamore with 510 and at least two games remain.

DEFENSIVE TREES
The Sycamores are one of the better defensive teams in the nation as they average 18.20 digs- per-set, which is seventh in the NCAA and third in the Valley. Melina Tedrow plays a key role in the defensive effort with 5.43 digs-per-set, putting her at 13th nationally and second in the MVC.

DIGGIN' IT
Sophomore libero Melina Tedrow continues to lead the defensive effort for the blue and white. She tallied 24 digs against Southern Illinois on Friday evening, and she currently has 15 matches over 20 digs. Currently, Tedrow is second in the Valley and 13th nationally in digs-per-set at 5.43.

ASSISITING THE OFFENSE
Freshman setter Chloe Mason leads Indiana State in total assists on the season, tallying 519 through 24 matches (93 sets) for an average of 5.58 assists-per-set, which is ninth in the conference. Mary Hannah Lewis helps split the work load with Mason, as she has tallied 383 assists on the year for 4.45 assists-per-set. Lewis was the starter against UNI and Drake at home and earned 13 assists against the Panthers and a career-high 31 versus the Bulldogs.
