Panthers Defeat Sycamores in Straight Sets on Friday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Northern Iowa offense was too much to overcome for Sycamore volleyball on Friday evening, as the Panthers defeated Indiana State in straight sets at the ISU Arena.

Nikkie White was the offensive leader for Indiana State, as the junior tallied eight kills to go along with a block assist.
Mary Hannah Lewis led the team in the assist category, earning 13 with fellow setter
Chloe Mason earning nine.

As a team, ISU registered 28 kills while hitting .085 to go along with 27 assists. The Panthers hit .337 with 46 kills and added 45 assists, led by Rachel Koop with 32.

Defensively, it was once again
Melina Tedrow leading the way. The sophomore libero recorded 14 digs to lead the blue and white while
Jade York chipped-in an additional nine.

The Trees finished the night with a team total of 41 digs and two total blocks. Northern Iowa was strong defensively, ending the match with 53 digs and nine team blocks.

Indiana State is back in action tomorrow at 5 p.m. in the ISU Arena when they welcome the Drake Bulldogs to Terre Haute.

Set One - Northern Iowa 25, Indiana State 19
- 13 of Indiana State's kills came in the first set, including three from Madeline Williams.
- ISU hit .286 during the set and got eight assists from Lewis.
- UNI ended the frame with 19 kills.

Set Two - Northern Iowa 25, Indiana State 9
- UNI opened the set on a 15-2 run and never looked back.
- ISU hit -.219 to UNI's .154.

Set Three - Northern Iowa 25, Indiana State 19
- The blue and white had a better offensive set, earning 12 kills with four by White.
- Tedrow led the team in digs during the set with five.
- Williams earned the lone block assist in the frame for the Sycamores.
