TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Sycamore women moved up one spot and the men maintained their ranking in the Great Lakes Region, as both teams appear at 11th in the Great Lakes Regional rankings, the USTFCCCA announced Monday afternoon.

The USTFCCA Regional Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strength with current season results (if applicable) in determining predicted team finishes at the NCAA Regional Championships.

Indiana State will host the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet on November 9 at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.

The men's team is coming off a second place showing on Friday, August 31 at the Miami Opener. The Sycamores amassed 41 points, defeating Miami (OH) (60) and falling to IU (23).

Akis Medrano was the top Sycamore finisher for the men, taking third overall and first among attached athletes in the 8K race with a time of 25:34.30, just one second behind the second place finisher. Medrano wasn't the only Sycamore to race well, as
Cam Trout ran an impressive race in his cross country debut, taking 15th place by crossing the line at 25:58.40. Sophomore
Isaac Bentz closed the race right behind his teammate, placing 16th at 26:00.70.

The final two scoring spots came from athletes making their Indiana State debut. Freshman
Nick Yeend took the fourth scoring spot, clocking a time of 26:15.00 for 20th place. The fifth and final scoring athlete for the men was freshman
Cale Kilian who raced across the finish line in 32nd overall with a time of 27:00.60.

On the women's side, ISU took third place at the Miami Opener falling to Miami (OH) (32) and IU (23).

Leading the way for the Sycamore women was the junior
Colleen Madden, who recorded a time of 22:50.80 en route to a 16th place finish.
Jocelyn Quiles and
Michaela Ward finished right behind Madden to complete the Indiana State trio, with Quiles finishing in 17th at 22:54.80 and Ward taking 18th with a time of 22:57.50.

Rounding out the Sycamore scorers for the women were
Alli Workman and
Tara Cassidy. Workman took the 23rd overall position with a 6K time of 23:20.30 and Cassidy, a freshman, clocked a time of 23:59.30 for a 26th place finish.

The Sycamores return home this weekend, when they'll host the John McNichols Invite on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the LaVern Gibson Championships Cross Country Course.
