TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -  Sycamore cross country has revealed its schedule for the upcoming 2018 season, Indiana State track and field & cross country program director Angela Martin announced Tuesday.
 
ISU will host two home meets again this season at the famous LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, beginning with the John McNichols Invitational on Sat., Sept. 15 which is named in honor of late head coach John McNichols. Prior to that, the Sycamores will open the season at Miami (Ohio) for the Miami Opener on Aug. 31 in Oxford, Ohio.
 
Indiana State will have a week off after the John McNichols Invite and will then head north to compete at the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Sept. 28.
 
Two weeks later the Sycamores will travel to Wisconsin for the Pre-National Invitational on Oct. 13 and get a chance to preview the course where the 2018 NCAA Championships will take place. The week after the Pre-National meet, ISU will head over to Illinois to participate in the Illini Open - the last tune-up before the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in Peoria, Ill., on Oct. 27.
 
Once the MVC Championships have concluded, ISU will host the NCAA Great Lakes Regional for the second consecutive year at LaVern Gibson on Fri., Nov. 9. It will be the sixth time that the regional meet has come to Terre Haute after hosting in 1998, 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2017. LaVern Gibson will also host the Great Lakes Regional meet in 2020, with the NCAA Championships coming in 2019. The 2019 season will mark the 13th time the national meet has come to LaVern Gibson since 2002.
