TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Shaye Barton was 3-for-4 and scored both of Indiana State's runs but the Sycamores allowed four runs in the top of the eighth to fall, 5-2, to Bradley in the Missouri Valley Conference series opener Saturday at Price Field.

Indiana State (16-16, 4-5) dropped the contest despite having a 1-0 lead after five innings and Bradley (14-18, 3-5) committing six errors.

Barton's first run came in the second inning, scoring as
Mallory Marsicek reached on an error. Marsicek sent Barton across the plate in the bottom of the eighth as well.

Kylie Stober (4-6) was charged with the loss after allowing five runs – four earned – on seven hits in 7 1/3 innings pitched. She walked two and struck out four. Megan Mahaffy (5-9) went the distance for Bradley, allowing nine hits and walking one while striking out two.

Tied 1-1 after seven innings, Bradley would score four runs in the top of the eighth to put the game out of reach for the Sycamores.

PLAYER OF THE GAME
It's hard to ignore the impressive display at the plate by
Shaye Barton, going 3-for-4 and reaching base in all four plate appearances (she ended up safe at first after a fielding error by Bradley's Stacia Seeton). Barton scored both runs for the Trees and made two putouts in the field.

STAT OF THE GAME
The six errors committed by Bradley are the most an Indiana State opponent has committed in a single game this season.
