Gibbs Goes Deep but Rally Falls Short for Indiana State

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Rebecca Gibbs scored twice – including a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh – but the Sycamore rally fell short in a 5-4 loss to Bradley in the second game of a Missouri Valley Conference doubleheader Saturday at Price Field.

Indiana State (16-17, 4-6) took a 2-1 lead off a two-run double by Bella Peterson in the first. Bradley (15-18, 4-5) tied it in the next half inning with a solo home run – the second of the game for the Braves – before adding two more runs in the frame and plating another run in the third.

Gibbs scored in the fifth after reaching on a Gabby Stoner error, cutting Bradley's lead to 5-3, but Mallory Marsicek would get stranded in scoring position.

The Sycamores cut Bradley's lead to one run (5-4) when Gibbs sent the first pitch of the bottom of the seventh sailing over the left field wall but the visiting Braves would retire the next three batters to end the game and the Sycamore rally.
