Sycamores Fall at Eastern Illinois, 2-0

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Kylie Stober struck out five batters in a complete game performance but allowed two runs – one earned – as Indiana State dropped a 2-0 decision at Eastern Illinois Thursday afternoon.

The Sycamores (16-15) were unable to get a hit until Becky Malchow beat out a single on a slow-roller to third base in the sixth inning. That marked Indiana State's best chance to score as Bailey Martin and Brooke Mann would eventually load the bases but Eastern Illinois (25-8) would register a strikeout – one of eight on the day for Indiana State batters – to quash the threat.

Stober (4-6) went the distance and only allowed five hits. A Sycamore error led to EIU's first run of the game in the second inning while the Panthers would add to their lead with a leadoff double and then a two-out single up the middle in the fifth.

Jessica Wireman (11-4) also went the distance for Eastern Illinois, allowing only three hits and one walks in the game.
