TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State head women's golf coach
Greg Towne announced today (Nov. 19) that a trio of student-athletes have inked National Letters Of Intent with Sycamore Golf. The three signees will join the program in time for the 2019-2020 campaign.
Joining the program will be Kristen Hobbs (Anderson, Ind. / Lapel HS), Chelsea Morrow (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern HS) and Iyoun Chew (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia /Â Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School).
KRISTEN HOBBS
Kristen Hobbs joins the program from Lapel HS where she was a two-time IHSAA State Finalist and an IHSAA Sectional Champion. She is a three-time IHSAA Regional Qualifier and a two-time Madison County Champion. He holds the Lapel High School record for low round of 69 and was named the Indiana Junior Golf Player of the Year. Hobbs has won multiple Indiana Junior Golf Tournaments during her career. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and won the Madison County Athlete of Character Award. Kristen is the daughter of Kyle and Trisha Hobbs. Kyle Hobbs is a 2016 inductee of the Indiana State Athletics Hall of Fame.
"Kristen is one of two Indiana HS players to sign for us," coach Towne commented. "She has been a leader of her team since a freshmen and knows how to win golf tournaments. The Hobbs family are supporters of the Sycamores and we look forward to having Kristen wearing the Blue."
CHELSEA MORROW
Chelsea Morrow is a four-year varsity player for the Hamilton Southeastern golf team. She was the No. 1 player on her team during her sophomore through senior seasons and led her golf team to three straight Indiana High School State Finals. She was the leader of her team as she won the 2018 State Sectional tournament. Individually, Morrow was runner-up in the 2017 & 2018 state regional golf tournaments and the 2018 sectionals. She qualified for all conference and all county honors each year from 2016-2018. Morrow finished her senior year with a scoring average of 76. Morrow was the Indiana 2015-16 Junior Golf Tour Champion. Â

Morrow is the daughter of Wes Morrow & Portia George Morrow. She participates in a life skills program where she assists children with disabilities.Â
"We are really glad to get Chelsea to commit to us," coach Towne said. "She plays the game joyfully and with a lot of grit. She is one of the best high school players in Indiana and we are happy she is staying in State. She comes from a supportive family that has an athletic background and will make a great addition to our golf family."
IYOUN CHEW
Iyon Chew played in the Malaysia National School Championships (MSSM) and was a Sabah State Team player. She took second overall in the Sabah International Junior Masters and Kudat Amateur open. Chew earned seventh place in the country for Malaysia National School Championships (MSSM).
"Iyoun has a beautiful swing and some great experiences playing for her National team," head coach
Greg Towne said. "She has taken her training seriously from a young age and looks to see how far she can go in golf. She comes with high recommendations from her coaches and is really looking forward to coming to the States and Indiana State. We are excited to have another International player with us."
