ST. LOUIS - Freshman Elle Christie has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week, the Valley announced Tuesday afternoon. She is the first-ever Sycamore diver to receive the honor.
 
"It's exciting for the diving program to be recognized at this point," Head Coach Josh Christensen said. "We have three freshman divers that have jumped right in and done a great job. Coach Chen is a fantastic coach and they're working hard every day. They practice at the same time we do so we get to see that hard work. We have really high expectations of our diving program and want to see it grow in the future, but it's really cool to see where we're at right now with these three freshmen and Elle stepping up and doing a great job against very tough competition was a great start. I'm excited to see her being recognized by the conference."
 
In the first collegiate meet of her career, freshman Elle Christie broke the Indiana State school-records in both the one and three-meter springboard against Illinois-Chicago on Friday. Christie recorded a score of 254.03 in the one-meter and a score of 267.98 in the three-meter en route to a second place finish in both events. She currently owns the third overall score in the Missouri Valley Conference in the three-meter and is fourth in the one-meter.
