TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Laura Gross posted a double-double and was one of two Sycamores with 20 digs but Indiana State couldn't rally back in a 3-1 loss at Drake Monday night at the Knapp Center. Set scores were 25-13, 14-25, 25-18 and 25-19.

Cassie Kawa added 10 kills and a career-best .529 hitting percentage and joined
Nikkie White in recording four block assists in the match. In all, Indiana State (8-12, 1-7 Missouri Valley) recorded eight total blocks but seven of those came in the second set, a 25-14 Sycamore victory. Drake's six total blocks were evenly spread out over the three sets they won.

The host Bulldogs (15-6, 4-3) were led by Cathryn Cheek's career-high 23 kills along with her 14 kidgs while Kylee Macke added 21 digs.

Melina Tedrow, who began her freshman season this year as a defensive specialist and started at setter in her third consecutive match, posted her third consecutive double-double with 39 assists and 17 digs.

The first three sets were seemingly one-sided as all five lead changes in the match came in the final set.

SET 1 – Drake 25, Indiana State 13
- Indiana State was out hit in the set, .457 to .200.
- Laura Gross led ISU with five kills.
- Cassie Kawa, with three kills on four attempts, hit .750 in the set.
- Drake was led by Cathryn Cheek's seven kills.
SET 2 – Indiana State 25, Drake 14
- Indiana State hit .379 while holding Drake to a -.023 mark in the set.
- The Sycamores recorded seven total blocks in the set to Drake's none.
- Six of the nine Sycamores active in the match recorded a kill in the set.
- Madeline Williams led ISU with four kills.
SET 3 – Drake 25, Indiana State 18
- Indiana State had three players – Laura Gross, Nikkie White and Madeline Williams – put down three kills in the set.
- Drake had two players – Callan Homes, Cathryn Cheek – with seven kills in the frame.
- ISU registered 27 digs while Drake recorded 35 digs.
- The Bulldogs hit .278 while ISU hit .140.
SET 4 – Drake 25, Indiana State 19
- The only set to feature a lead change, this frame included five with eight ties.
- Indiana State out hit Drake in the set, .257 to .250.
- The Sycamores posted 17 digs to Drake's 15 digs.
- Laura Gross and Cassie Kawa each registered four kills to lead ISU in the set.
NOTABLES
- There were no lead changes in the first three sets. Whichever team won the first point ended up winning the set.
- Laura Gross recorded her 33rd career double-double with 14 kills and 20 digs at Drake.
- Melina Tedrow recorded her third career and consecutive double-double with 39 assists and 17 digs in the match.
- This marks the first time since playing at Bradley on Sept. 28 that two Sycamores recorded 20-plus digs (Laura Gross, Jade York, 20 digs each).
- Drake now leads the all-time series over ISU, 37-27.
