BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana State volleyball fell to Ball State in straight sets Saturday morning at the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, 25-19, 25-21, 27-25.
The Sycamore offense struggled early in the match, hitting just .161 in the opening set before improving to .261 in the second set and a match-high .266 in the final set. ISU was led by freshman
Lindsey Wilkins who recorded a team high nine kills on a .438 attacking percent. Junior
Laura Gross added eight kills while sophomore
Damadj Johnson went for seven.
The Sycamores (1-1) finished the match with a .215 hitting percent while Ball State (1-1) finished at .315. The Cardinal defense did it job, recording eight blocks while ISU was held to just three.
ISU jumped out to an 11-7 lead in the third set, looking to extend the match but a rally from the Cardinals would push the match to extras where BSU would come out victories, 27-25.
Indiana State will take on host Indiana in the nightcap at 7 p.m. Aug. 26 on the Big Ten Network Plus.
