Baseball Shutout at Seattle in Midweek Debut, 4-0

SEATTLE, Wash. – Indiana State dropped its first midweek matchup of the 2017 season Wednesday night, falling to Seattle University 4-0 at Bannerwood Park. The loss marks the first time this year that the Sycamores have been shutout.

In a pitcher's duel to start things out, Seattle finally broke into the scoring column in the fourth, capitalizing on a dropped fly ball allowing the first runner of the night to cross the plate. SU also added another run in the frame after Austin Lively singled up the middle.

Seattle (5-7) added a run in both the sixth and eighth innings to pad their lead.

Indiana State (5-7) used nine pitchers in the staff outing with Triston Polley going the furthest in his first start of the year, finishing with 3.2 innings and striking out five. The sophomore fell to 0-1 on the year after giving up two unearned runs in the start.

The Sycamores offense was not able to crack Seattle's lefty Jake Prizina who pitched a no-hitter all the way through the fifth inning.

Clay Dungan broke up the no-hitter in the sixth with a leadoff single before Tony Rosselli singled to right but ISU was unable to capitalize on the offense stranding both runners.

Kyle Moore also led off the seventh with a single through the middle but again, the Sycamores were unable to score a run.

Prizina improved to 2-0 on the year after a superb eight innings of work in which he allowed only three hits while striking out four. Zach Wolf was able to come in during the ninth and shut the door for his second save.

The Sycamores have a quick turnaround as they stay in Seattle to take on No. 12 Washington in a four-game series starting Friday. Right-hander Ryan Keaffaber is slated for the series opening start.
