EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The Indiana State women's golf team is in fourth place while senior Marissa Uradomo is in fourth individually after the opening round of the Charles Braun Intercollegiate. The event is being held at the Oak Meadow Country Club, a par-72, 6,032-yard layout.
The Sycamores posted an opening round score of 317 as they are in fourth place. Host Evansville carded a round of 303 to lead the tournament while Butler is second with a score of 308. In third place is Valparaiso with an opening round of 312. Behind the Sycamores are Northern Kentucky in fifth (319), Chicago State in sixth (327), Lipscomb in seventh (330) and Eastern Illinois in eighth (334). The Indiana State "B" squad is in ninth place with a round of 343 while Tennessee State rounds out the field with a score of 352.
Marissa Uradomo is tied for fourth place and is four strokes out of the lead after the first day by carding an opening round of 74. Freshman Sierra Hargens continues a strong start to her first collegiate season with a score of 79 and is tied for 13th place. Thilda Staubo is tied for 18th place with an opening round of 81. In a tie for 29th place is Robyn Blanchard who posted a round of 83 while Sophie Benetti posted a round of 86 and is tied for 43rd place.
Abigail Irwin is leading the other Indiana State team which is in ninth place as she is currently tied for 23rd place with an opening round score of 82. Samantha Hightower posted a round of 84 and is tied for 35th place. Alex Jennings carded a round of 88 and is tied for 48th place while Shelby Williams is tied for 50th place with a round of 89. Freshman Kayla Ryan is playing in her second-ever collegiate tournament and posted a score of 90 and is tied for 52nd place.
Evansville's Kayla Katterhenry is leading the evening after posting a round of 70 on Monday.
The event concludes on Tuesday, October 25 when the 10-team field will play one more 18 hole round. A shotgun start at 11 a.m. (ET) begins the action for the Sycamores.
