Sycamores Sweep UALR on Estevez's Second Walk-off Hit

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State Sycamores earned a two-game sweep over the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans at Bob Warn Field on Sunday afternoon.  ISU won the finale 2-1 on a Manny Estevez walk-off hit.  Indiana State improves to 19-21, while UALR falls to 14-25.

The Sycamores struck first in the bottom of the first inning.  Landon Curry led off and reached on a throwing error by the UALR pitcher, which allowed him to take second.  Derek Hannahs reached on a fielding error by the UALR shortstop allowing Curry to score and put ISU ahead 1-0.

The Trojans were able to tie it up in the top of the eighth inning.  After a lead-off walk to Drew Merton, Ryan McSwain singled to move Jason Prevatt, who pinch-ran for Merton, to second.  Kyle Barret followed with a single to bring home Prevatt and tie the game up at 1-1.

Indiana State earned the win in the bottom of the ninth.  Jacob Hayes led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Andy Young.  After Connor McClain was hit by a pitch, Manny Estevez delivered the clutch hit.  Estevez was able to drive a single to left to bring Hayes home for the game-winning run.  It's Estevez's second walk-off hit in as many games.

On the mound, Ryan Keaffaber started, throwing 8.0 innings, giving up two hits, an earned run, and struck out four.  Keaffaber's no-hit bid was broken up in the top of the eighth with two outs.  Ethan Larrison (3-3) earned the win.  Larrison made his eighth appearance out of the bullpen, throwing in the ninth and striking out two of the three batters he faced.

At the plate, four Sycamores earned hits.  Estevez, Kaden Moore, and Andy DeJesus finished 1-for-3 with Estevez picking up an RBI.  Curry finished 1-for-4 with a run scored.
