2014 - MVC Scholar-Athlete... started in all 53 games and hit in the third spot in the batting order for 52 of those games and the fifth spot once... hit .275 (56-for-204) with 12 doubles... team-leading four triples, four homers, 36 RBI and a .431 slugging percentage... stole 14 bases to go with 31 runs scored... hit home runs in back-to-back games against Lipscomb (Feb. 21) and Belmont (Feb. 22)... against Lipscomb (Feb. 21) went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run, three RBI and two runs scored... 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored against Western Illinois (Mar. 9)... ended the season on a 12-game hitting streak... hit a home run against 2014 CWS Champion Vanderbilt (Apr. 8).
2013 – Saw action in all 51 games in his first season at Indiana State, including 42 starts … ranked second on the team with 12 stolen bases … hit .248 (39-for-157) at the plate with four doubles and one triple … ranked third on the team with 24 RBIs while also scoring 20 runs … led the team with four outfield assists, throwing one runner out at the plate and three at second base … eight multi-hit and four multi-RBI games as a redshirt sophomore … went 3-for-4 with one run batted in against Creighton on April 13 … scored two runs and stole two bases against Alcorn State on May 12 … at least one RBI in 10 of the final 16 games of the season.

South Vigo HS - A four-year letter winner at South Vigo High School under head coach Kyle Kraemer ... named all-Wabash Valley, all-conference and honorable mention all-state as a senior at South ... batted .427 with five home runs and 31 runs batted in as a senior after hitting .383 as a junior and .417 as a sophomore ... he was invited to and played in the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association North/South All-Star game after his senior season.
Personal – Jacob Joseph Hayes was born on Nov. 25, 1991, in Terre Haute, Ind., the son of Tim and Gail Hayes … majoring in Biology at Indiana State … SAAC and MVC SAAC representative at Indiana State … has two siblings, Samantha and Will ... his cousin, Mike, played baseball at Ohio State from 1989-90.
