HAUTE, Ind. –
With three national leaders in their respective events, the Indiana State track
& field teams continue to be ranked among the best in the nation according
to the national computer rankings which were released today by U.S. Track &
Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The
Sycamore women dropped one notch from a week ago and are currently ranked 18th
in the nation while the Indiana State men moved up two spots and are currently ranked
30th.
The
two Indiana State teams are also among the best according to the Great Lakes
Region rankings which were also released today with both ranked seventh in the
Great Lakes Region. Both teams were ranked fifth last week.
With
their 18th ranking, the Sycamore women are the highest ranked from the Missouri
Valley Conference. Wichita State broke into the top 25 this week as moved up 12
spots and are now 23rd nationally. Illinois State remained 26th with Southern
Illinois remaining 85th, Missouri State down one to 92nd. Indiana State is also
the top ranked team among major universities in Indiana. Purdue dropped 10
spots to 9th with Notre Dame up six to 82nd, Indiana jumped up four spots to 97th,
and Butler moved up three spots to 107th.
Kansas
took over the top spot in the women's national rankings with Clemson, last week's
top team, dropping down to second. Louisiana State moved up to third with Arkansas
remaining fourth, and Oregon dropping from third to fifth.
The
Indiana State men are also the highest ranking team in the national poll from
the Missouri Valley Conference with their 30th position in the computer
rankings. Illinois State moved up one to 73rd with Southern Illinois up 24 to 76th,
Drake down six to 117th, and Wichita State moving into the polls and also at
117th. The Indiana Hoosiers are the top ranked team among major universities in
Indiana as they moved up one to seventh in the national rankings. Indiana State
improved two spots to 30th with Notre Dame up 11 to 35th, Purdue remained 80th,
and Butler was up two to 104th.
The
top five teams in the men's national rankings remained the same with Arkansas
the top team in the nation followed by Florida, Texas A&M, Oregon, and
Arizona State.
The
top four teams in the women's Great Lakes Region rankings remained the same led
by Michigan and followed by Notre Dame, Kent State, and Ohio State. Indiana
moved up to fifth with Michigan State, Indiana State, Wisconsin, Arkron, and
Cincinnati rounding out the top 10.
Indiana
continues to lead the men's Great Lakes Region rankings followed by Ohio State,
Wisconsin, Akron, and Purdue. The second five is led by Michigan followed by
Indiana State, Notre Dame, Michigan State, and Kent State.
