TERRE HAUTE, Ind.— Senior pitcher Lindsey Beisser earned the team's first Missouri Valley Conference weekly honor of the season Monday when she was named MVC Pitcher Of The Week.
Beisser threw her first career no-hitter on Sunday as she got her first win of the season 8-0 over the Coyotes of South Dakota. In that game Beisser struck out 12 of the 19 batters she faced.
The no-hitter was the first at Indiana State since Darcy Wood did it in 2007 against Missouri State.
Beisser also started the second game of the day and threw 5.1 to earn her second win of the day.
On the season, Beisser leads the Sycamores pitching staff with a 2-1 record and a 1.17 ERA over 24 innings worth of work. Beisser also leads the team in strikeouts with 30 and has just four walks this season and also has two RBI's for the Sycamores.
The Sycamores continue action at the Rebel Games for the remainder of the week before returning home for their home opener Tuesday, March 13 against St. Louis University.
