TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Indiana State women's volleyball team opened the 2011 season Friday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over the Chicago State Cougars in the second game of the Quality Inn/ASICS Classic being held in the ISU Arena. The Sycamores (1-0) return to action at 7 p.m. tonight when they take on Eastern Illinois.

Junior Morgan Dall and sophomore Monique Morris paced the Sycamores with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Senior Shelby Fouty had 27 assists while senior Kiya James had a team high 13 digs. Fouty added seven service aces and Dall three as Indiana State recorded 11 aces in the game.

Three of Dall's aces came in the opening set as Indiana State pulled away from a 6-4 advantage with six straight points to take a 12-4 lead. The Sycamores never looked back and won the opening set 25-17. Chicago State had their only lead of the game when they scored the first point of the second set. ISU came back with six straight points and cruised to a 25-10 victory. ISU dominated the third set for a 25-9 victory to sweep the game in three sets.

Indiana State knocked down 36 kills in 71 attempts for a .380 hitting percentage while holding the Cougars to 14 kills in 73 attempts.

Sycamore junior Shea Doran tied her career high with a .700 hitting percentage with eight kills in 10 attempts and just one error. Morris connected at a .350 hitting percentage (10-3-20) for a career high and also had a career high in kills with 10.
