The Indiana State softball team (15-33, 4-21 MVC) ended their 2011 season Sunday as they fell 7-0 in the finale of a three-game series on the road to the Panthers of Northern Iowa (32-24, 16-11 MVC).

The Sycamores found themselves down early as the Panthers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after one complete inning of play before adding four more runs in the bottom of the second inning to make it a 5-0 Panther lead.

In the top of the third inning the Sycamores had their best chance to get on the board when junior third baseman Alyssa Marcum singled through the left side and freshman Danielle Ketner came in to pinch run. Ketner then advanced to second on a passed ball and two batters later junior short stop Shelby Wilson singled to first base to advance Ketner to third. However, the Sycamores could not get a run across.

The Sycamores were able to record just two additional hits in the contest and could never get their offense going against the Panthers pitching staff.

The Panthers then went on to add runs in the bottom of the third inning and bottom of the sixth inning en route to a 7-0 win over the Sycamores in the series finale and final game of the regular season.

Marcum led the Sycamores and finished the game going 2-3 at the plate

ISU will finish the season with a 15-33 record overall and 4-21 in Missouri Valley Conference play
