Sycamore Golfers Have Best Round Of Season; Finish Fourth At Shocker Invite

ANDOVER, KAN. ? Five of the six members of the Indiana State women's golf team posted scores in the 70s but the Sycamores could not move up in the standings, finishing fourth at the Shocker Invitational today.

 

The Sycamores posted a season low 307 in today's second round after opening the tournament with a 327 in the first round to finish with a season low 634 total. That was just a shot behind Missouri Valley Conference opponent Drake who finished third with a 633 total. Host Wichita State, another Valley opponent, won their own tournament with a 592 total while Redlands Community College was second at 614. Missouri-Kansas City was fifth with a 637 total.

 

Freshman McCall Christopher led the Sycamore charge with a career low 75 today on the links style course at Terradyne Country Club. Christopher had an opening round 83 to finish tied for 13th with a career low 158 total.

 

Junior Reece Feducia finished in the top 10 for the first time this season as she carded a 76 in today's final round after an 80 on Monday to finish tied for 10th with a career best 156 total. Sophomore Emily Dixon had a career low 76 in the second round after an opening round 82 to finish tied for 13th with a season best 158 total.

 

Sophomore Christina Beyerl finished 18th with a 162 total after an opening round 82 and a second round 80. Senior Diana Price rounded out the team scoring with a 169 total as she placed 25th after an opening round 85 and an 84 in the second round.

 

Senior Britney Martin was also in the competition as she tied for 19th with a 164 total. Martin shot an 86 in the opening round but came back with a career low 78 today.

 

Kati Scholten of Missouri-Kansas City was the medalist for the event as she shot two-day total of 145 including a 69 in today's final round. Wichita State's Adin Stromgren and Natalie Samb tied for second with 146s with the Shockers Gretchen Huhnerkoch fourth at 148 and Drake's Michelle Mathwick fifth at 149.

 

Next up for the Sycamores will be the Missouri Valley Conference women's golf championship which will be played April 22-23 at Illinois State University.
