DES MOINES, IOWA—The  Indiana State softball team (9-11, 0-3 MVC) was unable to avoid being swept by the Bulldogs of Drake ( in their first Missouri Valley Conference series of the season, falling to the Bulldogs 4-0.

After hitting two home runs on Saturday, the Sycamores bats were quiet on Sunday as the team was only able to muster two hits en route to the loss.

The Bulldogs grabbed the early lead over the Sycamores in the bottom of the first inning when they led off the game with a solo home run to grab a 1-0 lead.

After the first inning, neither team's offense could really get going until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Sycamores surrendered three more runs off three hits to give Drake a 4-0 lead.

The Sycamores could never get a rally started and fell to the Bulldogs by a final score of 4-0. The loss drops the Sycamores to 9-11 on the season and 0-3 in MVC play.

Senior Stephanie Jonson finished the game going 1-2 for the Sycamores with a base on balls.

The Sycamores will return to action Thursday when they travel to face the Bulldogs of Butler University at 3:00 p.m. The Sycamores will then return home for their first MVC home series against the Bears of Missouri State on Saturday.
