TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Senior forward Kelsie Cooley was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Five First Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. In her final season in a Sycamore uniform, Cooley is having her best season on court, currently averaging season-highs in: points (8.2), rebounds (7.1), assists (2.3), steals (0.85) and minutes played per game (32.7).

This season, Cooley ranks second on the team in rebounding, second in assists, second in blocks while coming in fifth in scoring. Although the Sycamore forward has not totaled a double-double this season, Cooley has gone over 10 points or 10 rebounds on nine separate occasions in 2010-11.

Cooley currently holds a perfect 4.0 GPA in Management at Indiana State, the only member of the District Five First Team with a perfect GPA. The Dayton, Ohio, product was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Second Team last season, and has earned the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award the past two seasons (for student-athletes of sophomore or higher academic standing with a perfect 4.0 GPA).

As a first-team selection, Cooley is now up for the Capital One Academic All-America Team. Three five-member teams of All-Americans will be selected from the 40 first-team all-district selections later this month. To be eligible for Capital One Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and be a starter or a key contributor to her team.
