After sweeping both games of the Magic City Classic on Saturday, the Indiana State softball team dropped its final game of the tournament 5-1 to Eastern Illinois.

Both teams struggled to get any offense going for the first three innings as both teams combined for a total of just five hits. However, in the top of the fourth inning the Panthers broke through and got five runs across the plate to jump out to a 5-0 lead.

The Sycamores tried to respond in the bottom of the fourth as freshman Alex Baumgart led off the inning with a single to right field and junior Stephanie Robinson followed that up with a single to shortstop to advance Baumgart to second. Later in the inning junior Alyssa Marcum hit an RBI singled to right center to score Robinson and the team's only run of the day.

The Sycamores threatened in the sixth inning advancing runners to second and third with just one out but could not bring them home as the Sycamores eventually fell to the Panthers 5-1.

Sophomore Kim Pierce went 2-3 from the plate for the Sycamores while Robinson went 1-3 with a run scored and Marcum also went 1-3 with an RBI.

For her pitching efforts, sophomore Kristin Felker was named to the Magic City Classic All-Tournament Team. Felker got the win against Lipscomb who was ranked in the top 25 last season. Felker gave up just one run off six hits and three strikeouts over a complete seven innings en route to a 7-1 ISU win. Felker was also named to the All-Tournament Team for the Magic City Classic.

The Sycamores will next play Monday, March 6 when they travel to Orlando, Fl. for the annual Rebel Games where the Sycamores will play 10 games over five days.
