On the second day of the Magic City Classic the Sycamores grabbed two wins with a pair of wins over Samford and Lipscomb to improve their record to 3-4 on the season. 

Game One

Junior pitcher Lindsey Beisser started off the day for the Sycamores throwing a complete game shutout and gave up just one hit as the Sycamores defeated Samford 7-0.

The Sycamores got off to a good start thanks to a solo home run to center from junior pitcher Bailey Wittenauer in the bottom of the second inning. Junior Alyssa Marcum also scored in the inning after she singled and then senior Stephanie Jonson reached on an error which scored Marcum and gave the Sycamores a 2-0 lead.

After holding Samford scoreless, the Sycamores added three more runs in the bottom of the third inning when freshman Alex Baumgart scored on a wild pitch and Marcum hit a two run homer over the left field wall to give the Sycamores three runs in the inning and a 5-0 lead.

The Sycamores added one run in the fourth off an RBI single by Baumgart then added one more run in the fifth. The Sycamores went on to win 7-0.

Game Two

In game two, once again the Sycamores got off to a quick start as sophomore Kim Pierce hit a solo home run to center field and gave the Sycamores a 1-0 lead.

Lipscomb answered right back with a run in the bottom of the first but the Sycamores offense came right back.

The Sycamores scored another run in the top of the second and third innings to take a 3-1 lead and one they would not give up for the remainder of the game to win their second game of the day. 

The Sycamores will play their final game of the Magic City Classic on Sunday when they play Eastern Illinois at 12:30 p.m.
