TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Indiana State softball program has signed catcher Olivia Andres to join the Sycamores in 2011, Head Coach Brenda Coldren has announced. Andres comes to ISU from Crowder College in Neosho, Mo., where she played two seasons for Coach Lori Videmschek.
Andres, a native of Arlington, Tenn., was named to the NJCAA All-Region First Team in 2009 and 2010. As a high school player, she earned all-region and all-metro honors, as well as Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player accolades in 2007. Andres was also selected Offensive MVP in 2008 and garnered all-tournament team recognition.
A standout both on the field and in the classroom, Andres earned a leadership award in 2006, as well as her team's Coaches Award three straight seasons. She was honored with the TSSAA Distinguished Scholastic Achievement Award as a sophomore.
At Crowder in 2010, Andres ranked in the NJCCA's top 10 nationally in hits (70), doubles (15), homeruns (six) and RBI (48).
