TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State freshman RJ Mahurin has been selected as one of 10 collegiate basketball players to participate in a 10-day tour of Poland as part of the Athletes In Action program. The team departs on May 29 and is set to return on June 7.

Mahurin sat out this past season for the Sycamores as a redshirt after enjoying a standout prep career at Rockville HS. He lettered four seasons for his father, Dave Mahurin. He was an all-state selection and earned Wabash Valley Player of the Year honors as a senior. He finished his prep career as the Rockville all-time leading scorer and also was the top scorer as a senior at the Pizza Hut Wabash Valley Classic.

This Athletes in Action (AIA) team is one of nine AIA international-touring men's and women's basketball teams this summer. Among those participating on Muhurin's team will be; Garrett Stutz and Toure Murry (Wichita State University); Preston Medlin (Utah State University); Levi Knutson (University of Colorado); Kyle Weems (Missouri State University); AJ Walton and Cory Jefferson (Baylor); Aleksandar Marcius (Purdue); Joseph Bertrand (Illinois) and RJ Mahurin
(Indiana State). Kent Williams, assistant coach at Missouri State University, will coach the team.

The team departs on May 29, 2010 and will begin with a training camp in Katowice, Poland May 31 through June 3. The team will play two games against the U23 Polish National Team and two games against other pro teams. The squad returns June 7th. The goals of this tour are to provide a rich cross-cultural experience for each team member and for team members to grow in their personal faith. Athletes In Action is a Christian sports organization.
