TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- On a bright and sunny spring morning at Memorial Stadium, a crowd of over 200 showed up to watch the Indiana State football program, under the direction of third-year head coach Trent Miles, go through their first scrimmage of spring drills.

They all left impressed with the play of a talented defense that continually stymied the offense through most of the workout. LaVon Carter made the big plays as he picked off one pass for a big return and then scored a touchdown off a fumble a few plays later in the scrimmage.

The defense also controlled the short yardage and goal line situations throughout much of the session.

Junior Braulio Martinez showed some distance and accuracy connected on 4-of-5 field goal attempts, including two from outside 40 yards.

The first team offense was led by Ronnie Fouch, a transfer from Washington, and he went 14-of-19 during the live portions of the scrimmage. He found a total of six different receivers over the course of the scrimmage.

Redshirt freshman Luke Harris stood out as well during the scrimmage as he burst open a long rush and continually found holes in the Sycamore defense on the ground. Darius Gates was solid throughout as well with the first team.

Coy Glass found Ednut Egeronbe for a touchdown pass late in the workout that saw him climb the ladder and come down with the TD in the corner of the end zone. The pass from Glass covered 16 yards and was made against tight man coverage.

The Sycamores will get back on the practice field for workout number eight of the spring on Monday, April 12 at 3:45 p.m. (ET).
