ST. LOUIS ? Indiana State junior Michael Disher was named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week while junior Major Clay was named the co-Men's Field Athlete of the Week it was announced today by the league office.
Disher opened the 2010 outdoor season with a victory in the 5,000 meters, winning the event at the Eastern Illinois Invitational on Saturday with a personal best time of 14:32.16. The time ranks seventh on the Indiana State all-time list and currently leads the Missouri Valley Conference. He also ranks 37th in the East Region and 73rd nationally.
Clay continues to dominate high jump competition as he picked up where he left off in the indoor season by going over seven-feet for the ninth straight time in 2010 and winning the event at the Eastern Illinois Invitational on Saturday with a jump of 7-feet-1-inch (2.16 meters). Clay leads the Missouri Valley Conference in the event, ranks fourth in the East Region and is fifth in the national rankings.
The Indiana State Sycamores will be on the road this weekend, competing at the Tom Botts Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri.
