TERRE HAUTE, IND. ? The Indiana State volleyball team played the visiting Wichita State Shockers tough early in each set but could not keep up the effort, losing the Missouri Valley Conference contest 3-0 (15-25, 14-25, 17-25) in the ISU Arena Friday night.

The Sycamores drop to 9-14 overall and 1-9 in the Valley with the loss. Indiana State will look to rebound against the Missouri State Bears who will meet ISU in the Arena starting at 7 p.m. (ET) Saturday. Wichita State improved to 14-5 overall and 7-3 in the Valley.

No Indiana State player reached double-digits in kills although sophomore Morgan Dall had eight, junior Ana Maira Charun seven and junior Stacy Qualizza six. Junior Shelbi Fouty had 24 assists on the night while freshman Monique Morris led the defense with 10 digs.

Emily Adney and Camri Zweisler had 14 kills each for the Shockers with Mary Elizabeth Hooper recording 37 assists. Sarah Waldorf had 12 digs and Zweisler 10.

Indiana State had a 6-4 lead early in the opening set but the Shockers rallied with an 8-1 run that put them in front for good 12-7. The Sycamores could not rally through the rest of the set and dropped the opener 25-15.

The Sycamores took the early lead in the second set on a kill by Qualizza but Wichita State surged to a 9-3 advantage and never looked back. Indiana State stayed close and trailed by just four, 14-10, when the Shockers went on a 7-1 run to up their advantage to 21-11 and cruised from there for the 25-14 win.

ISU looked to take control of the third set and built a 5-2 advantage after a kill by Dall. However, the Sycamores could not stop a Wichita State rally that saw the Shockers score 10 straight points and take the lead for good a 11-5. Indiana State could only put together back-to-back points twice after that and dropped the third set 25-17.

Indiana State finished with just 28 kills in 106 attempts and a .085 hitting percentage while committing 32 total errors (19 attack errors). Wichita State connected on 45 of 102 attempts and finished with a .373 hitting percentage. The Shockers had just 18 total errors (seven attack errors).
