ST. LOUIS ? Kelsey Luna has earned the State Farm Missouri
Valley Conference's Good Neighbor Award as Indiana State's representative on the
10-person list compiled this semester by the league office. Each school is also
allowed to select one of its in-season student-athletes for the honor which is
awarded in the fall, winter and spring.
Luna was named an ESPN The Magazine Second Team All-American
earlier this week, giving the Indiana State women's basketball program a member
of that prestigious list each of the last four seasons. Additionally, she has
earned ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team honors earlier this
year while taking home second team academic all-district as well as academic
all-conference plaudits last year.
She maintains a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in
Psychology. Luna has been named to both the Indiana State Athletic Director's
Honor Roll as well as the MVC Honor Roll on three separate occasions. She has
also been named to the Dean's List of College of Arts and Sciences for
excellence in scholarship as well as earning the Psychology Department's
Sophomore Academic Excellence Award.
Luna has been very active in Habitat for Humanity; worked as
a counselor at St. Josephs High School basketball camps; served as a teacher's
assistant with the St. Monica Elementary school; worked as a counselor at
Sanctuary Kamp and has been a captain of the Saving Sally for Memory Walk, which
is a Fundraiser to help fight Alzheimer's disease.

Novosel, Evansville; Kristi Cirone, Illinois State; Roxy Stiles, Missouri State;
Abby Girard, UNI; Kelly Dvorak, Southern Illinois and Marcy Sudbeck, Wichita
State.
In order to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete
must be in good academic standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through
good sportsmanship and significant community service, and must participate in a
sport, during the season of recognition. The Valley will recognize 10
student-athletes three times annually (fall, winter, spring), for a total of 30
honorees. Institutions select their Good Neighbor Award honorees.
