TERRE HAUTE, IND. ? The Indiana State cross country team, coaches, and fans will gather at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Beef O'Brady's (2309 S. Third St.) to await the announcement by the NCAA Cross Country Selection Committee on whether the Sycamores will get an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships.

“I believe that we have an outside shot at receiving an at-large bid but you just don't know until the NCAA makes its announcement,” John McNichols, Indiana State men's cross country coach, said. “Some prognosticators think we might just miss making the field but I remain optimistic. You cannot predict what the NCAA will say.”

The Sycamores are on the bubble to make the NCAA field that will compete at the Lavern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course on Monday, Nov. 23. Indiana State surprised everyone by running to a fourth place finish at the Great Lakes Region Championship on Saturday.

“We really upset the apple cart in the Great Lakes Region,” McNichols said.

Whether ISU receives an at-large bid or not, the Sycamores will be represented at the NCAA Championship for the second year in a row as Eric Schulz finished sixth at the Great Lakes Region Championship Saturday at Indiana University.

All cross country and Indiana State fans are invited to come to Beef O'Brady's tonight and await the selections with Sycamore athletes and coaches.
